I have a male pk flowerhorn that was living with a female Mayan cichlid. They breed twice, and he was only shooting blanks. They fought all the time, and he has a lot of scare tissue on his face. I've noticed lately that he can't see pellets right in front of his face even though he sees them at a distance. He doesn't eat much since he can't see well. My question is should I cut back some of the scare tissue so he can see better? Not sure what else I can do. Here's some pics.

lol you're going to take the fish out of water and hold him down while you cut stuff away from his eye? that sounds like a bad idea, you might poke him in the eye if he moves.

You should check if the eating issue is because of loss of appetite, not vision.

cutting anything is not going to help the fact that His eyes are on each side of his head, there is nothing blocking his view.

This. Of course he can't see directy in front of him. His eyes are on the side!
Your literally going to cut his face off...dude your crazy. He looks perfectly fine.

Did any of you guys actually read my post?? Does letting him starve sound more appealing to you guys? If tissue is blocking his periphial vision, then he can't see his food. He doesn't have an appetite problem, he has a vision problem.

There's plenty of other reasons why he would not be eating. How much does he eat? Fish can go weeks without food if needed. Also just because you don't see him eat doesn't mean he isn't eating at all.

All of this doesn't make a difference though since his eyes are on the side. If he can only eat a foot in front of him then that is perfectly normal. Taking the fish out and getting a knife and cutting a sliver of his face off will not help. He will be stressed and won't eat anyways plus it'll get infected and he can possibly die! How old are you? I'm just guessing, but you can't be too old. A mature person would think otherwise before cutting a fish's face off.
