I'm totally surprised by the lack of activity here in saltwater, considering that some of the best monsters out there come from the sea...

Ya I was also, I post most of my threads on reefcentral though. Lots of activity going on there.

All of the good SW monsters a little too big for home aquaria.

That's not true. Lionfish, Triggers, Groupers, Eels, Pomacanthus Angels, etc, etc, etc. All small enough for any "monster" home aquariums. most of these fish would be just fine in a 200 gal or smaller tank

I was thinking even bigger.... like goliath groupers, napolean wrasses, tuna, sharks etc...

i visit reef central alot too. but i also keep FW fish and thats where this site comes into play.

A lot of people keep freshwater because its easier and they have very little time on there hands for water changes and such.
