Monster saltwater fish and tanks cost way more than freshwater. :)

no way, it's the the buying of endless salt that gets expensive. unless you live in san diego. in which case, the scripps aquarium has a hose that pumps saltwater from their system. free baby. and you can buy a grouper that costs 30 bucks at a lfs that'll grow as big as any red tail cat or pangasias catfish

That is so true. That's why my salt tank at home is a 20 gallon. I'll leave the big salt tanks at work and let someone else foot the bill for my habit!

Depends on what you are looking for. Common large fish are cheaper than rare small fish in some cases. I've seen some marine fish that can be kept in home aquaria selling for thousands.

This little sucker cost me 50 bucks cause i got it through a buddy who's a wholesaler. The only pictures I could find of this pseudo were on japanese websites. Best part was, he only came out when it was time to eat. Little fish are waaaay more expensive than big fish. Jewel(sp) tanks for example cost several thousand dollars, but they don't get large compared to say groupers.
