So I'm home for easter and went to the LFS in Charlotte just to see what they had. No intentions of buying anything, just a fun trip to the fish store. And then I see this fish. I knew right away that my girlfriend would really really love this fish, and it was the first one of it's kind that i've seen and actually liked. So without further adieu,

I put down a reserve payment on it so that I can pick it up right before I go back to Raleigh. The colors are even more stunning in person. I'm pretty sure it's a female (correct me if i'm wrong) and she's about 6-7" long. I'm selling/giving away some of the stock from my current tanks to be able to house the fish. For about 2 months she'll get my 45 gallon to herself and then when I move in late june/early july I have a second 75 gallon to set up for her. For now she's going to go over black gravel with a black background on the tank ;).

I have a couple questions about these fish, first off, do females stay a bit smaller or will she hit the full 12-14" size of a male? Also are they as mean or are tankmates a possibility? Thanks guys

46 views and not a single verification of sex or any input on size differential on females or type of FH? I know hybrids tend to get hated around here but hate the people who bred them originally not the individual fish haha.

I really don't have any input on any of your questions...

but if I was your gf, I would be jumping out of my skin if you brought that home to me.. nice!

Thanks :P I really think she'll like it. Just read through your 125 build a bit and it looks like things have come along quite nicely for you.

lucky man, my gf would kill me if i brought home another fish

yeah she usually would.. but she's gonna go crazy when she sees this one hahaha. It comes with sacrifice though, i'm selling my ropefish, peacock eel, pictus cat, and gold severum to be able to make room for this one to have it's own tank. Needed to downsize some stock anyways, who knew buying a large fish would be the answer to getting that accomplished :D

I do have experience for a short period of time with one, but I really don't know much. I don't know the sex, but I can tell you they can be some mean mean fish. After my experience, if I got another one, I would keep it by its self.
