I do have experience for a short period of time with one, but I really don't know much. I don't know the sex, but I can tell you they can be some mean mean fish. After my experience, if I got another one, I would keep it by its self.

Very true. I keep my 11" male in alone. He does not play well with others!

You got no real opinions because most people stick to their own forums (like hangin out with you own kind), so if you posted in Flowerhorns/hybrids you've would have gotten more. Be patient eventually a Flowerhorn hobbyist will happen to check it out.

Looks MALE to me, and seems to be a Kamfamalao, but Flowerhorns have so much variations even within the 'supposed' strain. 80% Female if the dorsal is marked black (I believe this is from the Red Terror part of Flowerhorn as all female Festaes have the black dorsal). Being a Male with no big KOK I hope you didn't pay too much for him

got him real cheap for 30, i don't like the KOK's on flowerhorns anyways and I dig the color, they verified that it is definitely a male like you said but im happy with the purchase he's an awesome looking fish

Right, I've always hated the KOK too, but love the colorfulness of Flowerhorns. My brother gave me his Kamfamalau and its got everything 'Flowerhorn Hobbyist' wants, big KOK, double chin, outward fins, red eyes, nice pearls and color, but I can't just sell it, it was a gift.

That fish you got is awesome by the way and for $30 is a steal, it would still sell for at least double.

Thanks I appreciate it I was typing fast and typo'ed the cost it was 40 but i still think i got a good deal and am really happy with the purchase, now im just obsessing over keeping him healthy until i can get it back to raleigh tomorrow afternoon haha
