Surround Sound Help

I have a great tv, but made the mistake a few years back of getting a lame surround sound system with built in dvd player. I'm now shopping for a good system WITHOUT built in dvd/bluray player. I would prefer one with both hdmi input and outputs so I can hook up my ps3, although I suppose a optical audio input would work. Any suggestions? Hopefully something under $1K. Thanks

Bose for the win. I have the 3.2.1., and love it.

Next system I get will probably be the Lifestyle though

Bose is definitely a very high end system, and worth the $. i personally am a logitech man, in my opinion you get almost the same great sound quality for less thatn half the price. make sure that the system you decide on has a Dolby digital decoder in it though. alot of systems say Dolby digital on them but do not have a decoder so they do not produce true dolby sound.

do you want to buy an entire new system? speaker and all? personally for receivers i like Yamaha. Just bought a new one myself. i am only using hdmi hookups.
