Survival Rate of New Fish

Thanks everyone. This is Vancouver to the interior so not ferry ride. Locally bought fish seem to do much better. The fish were bagged with lots of oxygen and sealed in a Styrofoam container. The fishlooked very healthy when purchased. I think the quiet tank for a few days might be the trick as some of you have noted. Love to hear other people experiences though. Thanks again and keep the ideas and thoughts coming.

It's a four hour ride back? I think that's the problem. I find morning floaters after a 1 hr car ride. Anything over 45 mins and I bring a styrofoam cooler 1/4 full of tap water and heater so they don't get the temp swings from store tank, outside, car (~71) and outside. I've found the temp swings form excessively hot/cold days are what stressed out tropical fish more than long bag water times. I also bring an aerator just incase they start gulping for O2. Only had to use airstone once for tote with big kois.
You can buy a power strip that plugs into the cigarette lighter.

For spontaneous fish purchases I've run to a nearby gas station, which most of have styrofoam coolers by the beer, and gone back for the fish and had them 1/2 fill the cooler with aquarium water. I had no heater or airstone
