can't wait when paima becomes same length as myself ... that would a site ... should not be for quite some time ...<sigh> ... unfortunately, this means that i would have to make arrangement like my neighbor ... i am still thinking about how i can incorporate a viewing port ...

Great monsters you got there mate and you've got a decent sized setup that should hold them for a while.
Yeah, i would probably have to make arrangement next year for a pond ...<sigh> ... or make a bigger version of my current set-up .... either way, dry season is almost here so the temp will go down - and so will the fishes appetite
You don't have any probs with the gators attacking the pima or RTCs?
I might have to take a pr of RTCs that are growing to big from a mate for one of my ponds , but I am not sure if they should go with the gators or the pima pond
The outdoor set-up is fairly peaceful. The big boys are doing fine together. So far the killing of new comers was conducted by RTCs. Gar have killed silver aro some time ago ...
Heheheeh i am trying red-bellied pacus again (3 of them at 8" each ... i know the odds are not good). So far no phonecall, so they must be still alive. I hope they move-in successfully.
PS: will see if gar aggression will show during dry season (colder weather) when tropical boys (paima and RTCs) will be more sluggish ... fingers crossed
Just reading those quotes on monster fish in oz in 2008....they'd be way more expensive now! I got quoted $6000 for a red asian aro who knows how much you'd pay for an aropaima. I hope I can find one cheaper tho
be careful buying asian arowana in Aus, the authorities are tracing them. I had an unexpected visit and my black jardini was mistaken for an asian arowana, they scan the fish for microchips. you buy at your own risk. not worth the trouble and cash involved.
