I think you'd really enjoy a chain pickerel. They're a large but manageable size, typically about 24". You should be able to catch them in shallow, still, weedy waters.
 
they can also be ordered from that sach's website pretty reasonably, which i may do. i plan to keep a couple florida gars as well. dont know how i would like parting with my endlicheri bichir though. might have to experiment with temperature ranges. i think they could all do 75.
 
You could even go higher than that. I think anything below 80 would be fine. Temperate fish are generally more tolerant of a variety of temps than are tropicals.
