you should visit the okefenokee swamp in Southern GA, used to go there and rangle with all sorts of reps as a kid

haha, I went there a few times but last time I went I had a few snake hooks in the back of the truck and we went for a hike, when we got back, we got in trouble for having "snake hunting paraphernalia". The ranger was a real prick, we were not catching anything in the state park and only had the hooks in the truck, not on us. He asked us to leave and I have not been back since.

I have relatives in the Savannah area, so I'm very familiar with the Southern Georgia waterways. Georgia is a beautiful state and it appears that you had a great time in the midst of it's beauty. You're correct, the water is very dark and literally black, due to peat. The Okeefenokee swamp area is similar.

I know all too well about pissy Park Rangers. Also if you get the chance, you should visit Lake Hartwell on the GA/SC border. I was born and raised on that lake. Good fish and all kinds of other goodies to find there.
