actually, i recommend using an HOB filter with NOTHING in it as chaeto and other seaweeds just trap nutrients, you need to remove the waste so besides the HOB filter look into a good HOB protein skimmer and your tank will be much easier to maintain.

I've been reconsidering my HOB fuge. I know pods live in there--but my nitrates still get high enough to warrant 30% WC about every 2 wks.
