In peoples experience, what substrate do they prefer in there SW setups, live sand, crushed coral, argonite?

I've been reading that doing all live sand can get expensive and doing a 50/50 is a decent option.

Opinions?

When I had my SW set up I used argonite. Your sand will become live over time anyway, no real reason to spend all the extra on "live" the stuff labeled live (with the wet in it) really doesn't contain much live anyway. If you can maybe just get a little live sand from someone with a established tank that will help "seed" it.

The crushed coral really isn't good for the SW set ups (can't really remember the reason now) but I was advised against it.

Also take this question over to the "salt" forum here, you will get much more advice there ;)

Good luck!
