Why dont you just drown some toads? LOL. Can you even take your hood off?
notsure

I thought your hood had the filter system inside it, As well as the light, heater, nuclear bomb etc. Just keep the plant in like, a water pot or something.

I bet you've got a pitcher plant. They live in bogs. However, the water in bogs is generally too acidic to support fish. It's pretty much impossible to do a bog tank because not many species of fish actually live in North American bogs.

Hmm, I see.

Sorry, didn't mean to burst your bubble. You can still set up a small terrarium with the pitcher plant- a few newts or salamanders. Not sure I'd go with tree frogs since they might end up in the pitcher plant and be digested.

lol, I'm cool, my bubble wasn't burst.:)

The thing is that we can't get newts or salamanders in Aust, I have 6000 brown frogs in my backyard, but yeah, as you said, the plant could eat it.

Actually, that'd only be if it was a pitcher plant and you had tree frogs. Could you upload a pic of the plant? I think sundews live near shores as well, but are less aquatic than pitcher plants.

You should do some research and see if you have any bogs in your area. They are really cool to learn about and visit, i can only imagine how cool a bog aquarium/terrarium would be.
the reason why your plant is carnivorous is because the bog is so acidic that it has no nitrates, meat is the source of these nitrates. as stated before, bogs are too acidic for fish. I've visited many bogs, and the only creatures i've found living in them are beavers, water skimmers, and frogs. It would be really cool if you could get some peat moss, which is what your plant is usually used to living in.
if you end up having a bog in your area go to visit! it is really entertaining, and you could collect some good samples for an amazingly interesting project. You can buy live flies at most pet stores, so the only issue may be getting the appropriate lighting.
