But my lfs cannot get any in for some reason.... and usually they can.

Yes~!
The place I first saw baby ornates (it's been my main lfs for years) and I asked if he was getting more but he said he hadn't seen them in a while.
I found this other place and asked for albinos, ornates, and retropinnis and he said come back next week

btw, since its only 6", it generally can't be sexed yet.
its actually larger than 6", i think ill pull it out this weekend and get an official measure, but i estimate it to be closer to 8" given its size when put up against fish i know the length of. But at what size is it best to sex at??? not that it much matter since i dont know if i would ever breed bichirs, but i always feel bad calling it a guy when its not, and vice versa.
