So it's a coldwater animal?
Even tropical plants like/need cool water in hydro/aquaponics. Some of the most hardy terrestrials and bog plants can be grown in warmer water temps. Ideally you would shoot for upper sixties. Anything under 68f nearly eliminates any chance of pythium.

It has been growth like weed under regular light.
I never test my water. Just feel like to have it.

This is cool! It's probably using its stored carbohydrates until it starts with some foliar growth. I'd like to hear if you see any reduction over time as it grows. I have a lot of automated hydroponic setups, ebb and flow systems. Absolutely love them. not much as far as aquaponics...time for a new project!

I had a potato growing in my medic tank it grew very well !!!! That is until I dropped furan 2 into there and it killed it off . THe roots took over the tank at one point . But I used a purple potato. They come from south Africa and do great in warmer temps !

I just put a brown baking potato on skewers in a unheated 1g w/ a baby Molly. lol I saw him at the surface hiding in plants from my cichlids and he was the only one left so I felt bad for him and I took him out haha Hey, he made it that long, maybe he wasn't supposed to die. He's about a month old now....maybe 1/8" long.
