Sweet red wolf

Nice Fish!

Kno4te got it, seems reds tend to be more aggressive or out going. I've no experience with purples but I've kept 2 reds one I've got now at 5 inches. They've been greedy but never started trouble in my tank. I believe purples tend to stay a bit smaller as well.
My purple is really big. Very shy and not so aggressive. My red is all by itself do to its aggressiveness. The purple is really thick close to 6-7 inches. Red wolf is around 4

Give him time to settle in and it may change some. And as for the red being aggressive, I'm sure you could keep it with some hardy fish.

Reds aren't that aggressive. As long as the fish grows out with its tank mates then it works out. Plus hiding places and breaking away straight lines of sight etc etc. White tip wolves are damn aggressive. Haven't had one yet that would tolerate t-mates. This is in regard to the less than 1 foot wolves of course.

What's a white tip wolf?

What's a white tip wolf?
This is another name for erythrinus sp Tahuayo river. They are much more aggressive. I have always had them solo in tanks.

Oh ok I've heard of the species name, searched the, once or twice but did t find to much, never could find one to learn any first hand experience, care to share your experience with them?

Not much different than the ery members. Except the color being different. They are much slender compared to other ery species. I've seen one adult and do not get the sausage effect. They are also very aggressive. Lot of nipping and bites. Majority I think are territorial. I have had several of these guys and weren't able to keep much with them. I never tried plecos but I really don't like them. Water changes were also a bit tough as the fish would try to nip my fingers. No serious wounds. My current red just hides and swims around but let's the other fish be alone.

Nice and my red doesn't stop swimming around, he's getting banged up though, at night he tries to jump out sometimes and it's beginning to show on the front of his nose. I'm hoping he grows out of it. Was thinking of lowering the water level but then I'll have to deal with the noise and it's in my room so it'll suck lol, the adult you seen, how big was it, I started reading what I could find out of curiosity and it seems to be unknown, how large they get that is.

Try some floating plants. It'll help to deter ur red.
Most white tips I have see aren't larger than 8 inches. The one I saw was about 8. No ruler just eyeballed it. Even then the info isn't sure about ery species as its said likely same as red or purple in sizes.
