OK, I'm pretty ignorant to the specifics of a swim bladder other than it allows the fish to keep itself 'balanced' and it can break or burst somehow.

My JD/convict cross has been laying on his side for a few days now. This is the same fish that started hiding behind the plants in the corner of the tank about a month ago or so. If he is swimming, he's fine. The more movement from him, the more 'balanced' he is. But if he is totally relaxed, he is completely on his side, in an arch, even, when completely relaxed for a few minutes or more.

Does this sound like a burst swim bladder? If so, could it have happened a while ago and gotten worse over time? Is it treatable at all? (from what I've heard, it isn't) Will it kill him?

I must thank you all in advance. You've already been a big help to me in the past.

Please
post pictures 911......If it is swim bladder...Isolate him, raise the temp, add Epsom's salt...1tbls per 5 gallons (dissolved first) starve for a week at a time, try feeding squished peas, 1x per week until problem is solved....Try to do 2x 50% WC's, and replace the salt when you do...Good luck...

I apologize if they all look the same on here, some are closer up than others but it was hard to tell which one showed the best angle on photobucket. Let me know what you think. If it is Swim bladder, (I'm not sure what else it could be) are you telling me that it is treatable?
