i think this is just a common sense emotional instinct for people passing by to be sickened and distraught seeing the dying whale go through this ordeal..top that with two people who obviously could care less and emotions are heightened.... we need to protect wild life not further their demise.. whether the fact that riding a dying whale impacted his death really has no meaning to the average person who respects wildlife... we can not always intervene but when we can thier first response should have been to help.. a simple phone call of alert to the authorities would have made the difference maybe.. we will never know. And this is what creates anger.. when there is no regard or respect...

This is crazy. Rude and sad. People need to respect life. Even if they were not aware of its condition isn't an excuse. What if it had a baby whale with it and attacked the swimmers? Would the whale be wrong? Would the public be outraged at the whale? You know you can't fix stupid. But we as people have to do better.

I have had my say on this. The manufactured outrage i can live with, and agree that it increasingly exists( even here on this site of ours )

But your absolute " no care " theory. Is it "non interference" ? I cannot agree with. One thing is to let nature follow its course and not care wether a whale lives or dies( thousands of guys care as we see with starnded whales a lot of times ), anoyher thing is not acknowledging that non onterference should go both ways, and those morons have" interfered" ;were it a massive blue whale and even so they would have interfered. And their interference was most possibly negative due to stress.

Sjould they be skinned alive? I think not. But in a country as yours, where people get angry about anything, inclusding other peoples private lives, who knows?

On a brighter note can you imagine the guys sitting there in the slammer one guy looks at the other, " what are you in for?" oh we were riding a whale and apparently that killed it! Whaleslaughter I guess!??

The whale was already dead pretty much. I would also bet that if two small people on him caused the whale to stress and die. then a few "rescue" boats and a whole crew of "rescuers" would be far more stressful to the animal. I cant say I would do the same. Mostly because of the size of their mouths and teeth.

A few months back I did swim with a twenty foot whale shark. I grabbed its tail and it literally didnt even notice. Just kept feeding and swimming like I wasnt even there.
