so i was at my local walmart supercenter, walking past toys i noticed pools are on sale over 50% off, i seen one for $10 its 8' round and 18", the box says this is 557 gallons at 80% full. it has plastic sides and a thick rubber bottom.

i have a large shed out back and im wondering would this be a good buy and setup as a qt/ holding tank for my fish before i put in my 960g. aside from this pool being round to my tank being an 8' square its almost the same size so it would also get the fish a little more used to the size. has anyone ever used this approach? if so how/what did you use to get it setup and running?

im assuming this would work decently, but like always i like to get opinions from more knowledged folks than me, please give me some input

thanks in advance

New pool liners (designed for swimming) may harbor chemicals that can harm or kill fish. Especially anti-mold agents. I've used pools myself. But, only those that have been used for a couple of years and no longer held any new plastic/vinyl odors.

so maybe not such a good idea for a new one then huh, what if you fill it up with regular hose water for a month or two and constantly clean clean clean it?

I have used them before, but like Oddball said, you REALLY need to make sure all the crap has leeched out of it before using one for fish.

aside from just using for 2 years, what would be a good way to clean it out?

why not just one of those giant rubbermaid horse trough things? you can get them at alot of home improvement stores.. at least around here

they run 3-400 here for a large one, for that i can build a plywood tank :D, my next idea;)

gotcha.. they are kinda cheap here.. about as much as a pool from wlamart

its probably high here because of where i live, lots of cows and horses in my county believe it or not, id imagine they are high because they know people are ognna need them

the big plastic bins at loews and home depot and stuff, the kinds for clothes work. i had a 60 gal bin as my koi pond and it worked out great, but you might need two cause they bend in the middle with the water
