aside from just using for 2 years, what would be a good way to clean it out?

There's no way to clean them out other than letting them season naturally. The problem lies in the chemicals used to form and cure the synthetics. Any 'treatment' will interrupt normal curing and possibly weaken the pool's integrity.

I've been given 13 mature koi, about as big as someone's forearm (about 20 inches). Choices:
A country pond, where I would never see them, with plenty of room.
A brackish swimming pool, mature and plastic lined, at my sis's house nearby.

Which would you choose and why?

I'm thinking about using a metal frame pool as a temporary observation pond. That and as a breeder for a specific type of anostrocan. After reading about this chemical stuff I'm not to sure about it though.
