ok i know everyone has seen the swimming pools with the inflatable ring around the top right ? they are big blue inexpensive and easy to setup and tear down. so please don't laugh at me but, would it be possible to use one of them as a pond? I live in michigan and everything freezes here in the winter and the ground freezes really deep too, i only want a pond for a summer vacation home for some of my fish so one that i can tear down when the fish go back to their tanks in the fall would be ideal for me. any feedback will be greatly appreciated

:headbang2 that would be so oooo much easier for me, not only do we have rough winters here but we rent our house and i'm not sure how the landlord would feel about me digging a really big hole. plus those things are so much easier to assemble.
so what do you think i would have to do for filters

oh yeah, if anyone here has done this i would love any info you are willing to share

No suggestions??

I did it for a sort period of time. The thing is that you can't fill it up 100%, so stick to somewhere around 80 or so. I would suggest placing a pond liner over the inside of the pool. What type of filtration are you looking at using? I had a hob filter and it was tough because I had to make a special little compartment inside the pool. ANy more questions and you can just pm me and i'll try to help you out the best i can

there is a florida fish farmer who uses kid swimming pools for breeding blue lobsters. he has about 50 of them all set up under a open sided tent. I also thought of doing the same thing, but I have kids and they would probably think it was for them.... it will work, some of them come with a pump as well, but be sure to cover the inlet with a sponge or something. depending on what your keeping in there, they don't get sucked up. one last thing, try to cover the top of the pool with bird netting. it's a net with 1/2 inches squares in it. this will help keep the birds away, and keep the fish in... you can find it at home depot nursery...

My buddy was making his pond bigger, and while in the process purchased a pool with the pump and keep his koi in it for about 2 weeks .It worked great for him.

what about winter?

You could get some inflatable arm swimmies and some bubble bath, oh and a plastic boat and a rubber duck too. Sounds like a good time...
