Hard to say if it’s duck lips or not. Usually from both lips are involved but I guess it doesn’t have to follow that. See what duanes duanes thinks about it.

If it is then kanamycin and furan2. Salt at 1 tsp per gallon. Best of luck.

It could be the beginning of duck lips (columnaris).
It often manifests as white columnar patches, before it atrophies into the typical, locked jaw.
If water temp is 82 or above, best to drop it slightly and slowly to 78 or 79.
Columnaris bacteria are more virulent above 82'F

I dropped temp to 80 last night and will drop to 78 tonight. Over night the white patch got bigger but the bottom lip doesn’t look to have gotten any worse. No swelling in upper lip. I also treated with salt last night. Should I go ahead and Medicate or wait and see if the temp drop and salt works?

Salt may help, and an antibiotic that is effective against gram negative bacteria would be my choice.
The white patches are a less severe and more treatable infection than the locked jaws

So stopped by my LFS where I got my FH and there recommendation was to medicate with Nitrofurazone ( this is a gram negative treatment) and Erythromycin which is not necessarily for gram negative but has shown to be effective. This sound right to you guys?

The nitrofuran (not sure about nitrofuran by itself) will help but no so much the erythromycin. Can do triple sulfa and nitrofuran. Or triple sula by itself works if early. Or what i recommended, kanamycin and furan2. Just imo.

The Nitrofuran is same as Furan2. LFS didn’t have kanamycin

There’s 2 compounds In there. Yes Nitrofurazone is in it.
