The above picture posted by mercury904 is a tank of Eupterus. That is not my fish.

The Euperterus is lighter colored and it seems to have more vibrant black dots. Mine is more of a soft dark gray with faint black spots. He might just be a little beat up. So do you agree it is a nigrita? Have any idea how old he is? His mouth seems very tiny to maintain such a large body. Any one know what these guys like to eat? I feed a variety of foods to my fish daily and have never seen him eat.

Well if are really worried put him in a separate tank and observe the food that you have dropped, dont put any thing just the fish, tank, pump

As far as i am concerned most catfish are easy to feed, and will eventually eat when it is hungry...you can check out his belly ,maybe you just dont see him feed.:)

Mine has never been skinny and at this point I would call him borderline obese. He's around 5" and probably 6-7" around lol

Mine has become very territorial lately. He hangs around inside of his tree stump and when I feed him my Pacu come over and try to nab all of the food. Then my syno stabs them in their sides with his snout. I also have a 3inch oscar that shares the stump with him and they seem to get a long great. But the pacu are much taller than my syno, so he might feel a little threatened. I love to see him punk my pacu because they think they can do anything. When ever my sno sees them coming he'll stab them in the stomach with his mouth, kind of like a dog trying to get attention by pushing his head against your leg.

I recently noticed my 2 inch striped raphael has cloud eye and I put some API MELAMIN anti-fungus in my 150 gallon. I was going to treat just the raphael but my syno has a decent size nip out of his tail so I figure it can't hurt. Now my entire living room smells like minty TEA TREE! That is some strong stuff. I had Tea tree shampoo one time and it vibrates and tingles your scalp with a burning sensation. Very strange that this is a fish medicine. But it's natural.

Thats a hi-fin sydontis cat. Otherwise, known as Synodontis Eurptis(Spelling)!
