Synodontis quartet, ~8"-12", in 4500 gal

Out of my large syno collection (which can be seen here https://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=30939&hilit=120+gal ) I only got four left and there is only one of them from Rochester NY collection still, the large hybrid named Krol now nearly devoid of the spots because of age.

So the synos are - large hybrid Krol at ~12", smaller hybrid ~8", larger eupterus - a rescue from 2011, ~10", and smaller eupterus - a rescue from 2014, ~8". They have been in 4500 gal for a couple of years now.

I believe the larger hybrid and the smaller hybrid are the same kind of hybrid and their looks differ only due to age - this is the question I posed in this thread: https://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=42768&hilit=syno+hybrid

My silver aros went into this 4500 gal, so the synos had to go into a 240 gal. Actually did them good. They are more relaxed now, eating much better too, got some tummies now, especially I am glad to see Krol, my big hybrid, get a nice tummy. It got skinny in 4500 gal and was worrying me.

I bought three captive raised S. decorus from Jeff Rapps about half a year or a year ago at 1.5". Only $15 each. They reached ~5"-6" today. Always hiding though. I have to break down their rock work to get them out.

They are boisterous. Kick out 7" black shark from their hide, which is pretty much the only hide the shark could use.

What are you feeding your Synodontis Decora? I just acquired a 3" Decora last week beautiful fish when it's out of hiding.

I can't be sure. They never come out of the rock work from the time I get up to the time we retire for the day. I pretty sure though they feed on Ziegler Bros. catfish farm pellets. I only offer these and cut fish. The cut fish goes quickly and usually the tank current doesn't blow it into the rocks. Pellets do get there.

Dec 2, 2017, updated video featuring the 4 synos. Not the point of the vid but the synos can be seen plenty. Same quartet. The smaller ones have been growing. The larger eupterus and hybrid haven't changed, stuck at around 8"-9" (eyeball). They have been in a 240 gal for a year. Too many big mouths in 4500.

Fifteen-month update on the synos. In the same 240 gal now there are eight:

-- 4 of the originals,
-- one more adult eupterus rescue as of a year ago, and
-- the three decorus too, who got moved to this tank about a year ago.

I see squabbles sometimes between the two hybrids and between the eupterus but no serious damage, just some scuff marks at worst. The decorus seem ok with each other but keep their distance from each other. I've seen all of them take both pellets and thawed fish pieces.
