Synodontis sp. Big Boy

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Are you keeping them separate?

I started with 4 small decorous In a 75 but ended up with 1 adult. I found them to be one of the synos who don’t play well with their own type. Leaves the angelicus alone but wouldn’t trust it with another decorous.
Yes,the big one will eventually go into the 265 and the little peeker will be moved to the 180 where my marbled lancer also resides.

Mine three have been together for 5 years from the tender size of 1". If there were problems between them, I have not seen it. They were in a 240 gal all this time except the last three months in 1800 gal. They were hiding a lot in the 240 gal behind and between boulder rocks, so I rarely saw them.

Maybe this means plainly and mysteriously "every tank differs" or we'd need to look at the details of how we kept them in an attempt to rationalize the cohab difference between your experience and mine.

You are housing fish in small pond size aquariums :grinyes: so I would imagine there is enough room for 3. i tried a decorus with an euruptus in a 90g. Lost the decorus, rehomed the other. Now I have an angelicus.

I think you are onto something with the pond/tank size.

That is one difference at the face value of info given by Dave and me.

Another possibility is that my guys were intimidated by their tank mates and hid all the time, which on paper should have reduced their chances to squabble... that is if they squabbled or wanted to squabble at all.
