yes it looks like a Bifa in my opinion. Could be a pure bifa as it is. That's what you bought it as right?

Yeh, the only reason why i doubt is because its so gentle and i was told on here that Biffas are crazy aggressive.

well. all cichlids act up if you put the wrong fish with them. Any fish they feel might be competition they will get.

But you know what? Bifas are orange pink. Syns are Red head/blue/yellow.

but with those strange pearls on the face/head, i think it's a hybrid bifa. I dont know. But I dont think it's a Syn..

Oh i didnt realise, I have never seen either in real life until i got this one, every google image search shows Biffas as half yellow half red :S

Looks more biffa to me

I think this is unanimous then.

I'll offload it before it gets to crazy, I would of thought at 5" it would of started to show its true personality, my Texas, Flowerhorn and green Terror have no problems doing so!

I can understand it in baby fish, but usually by sub adult the 'true' side comes out.

Bifa's arn't some crazy rouge fish that indefinatly will destroy anything in its way. I'd consider them about the same temperment as blackbelts, Which can be good or bad in tanks depending on the stocking. Smaller and conspecific fish(similair traits) they tend to destroy, but they back down from fights easily.
And it even seems like you have a prettly relaxed one. It may even be female. Dont let somebody elses unsuccessful stocking scare you away from Vieja/ Paratheraps.
