Synspillum & Blackbelts as tankmates?

Keep the Synspilum pair and maybe add a Armored Catfish or Pictus. I still think you need a larger tank though.

So am I able to add ANY other fish to the 55 gal w/ the red head cichs? They don't have to be cichlids.

As already stated, your current tank is already going to be too small for your pair of syns within a few short months.

you could try something fast like giant danios .. but they are going to need a bigger tank , iv just got a 100 uk gallon tank for my male red head all for himself

I would keep the Synspilum, black belts get too big and nasty. Just a suggestion unless you want to split them up and get a bigger tank for your black belts.

I have had both at large sizes and B.B. will kill Syn"s when ever they want to..... syn's don't have a chance.... IMO B.B. are the most aggresive
vieja species....

They're beautiful. The sysn are a 1st for me so I've decided to keep them & move out the bb's.
