Just bought this Syn a week ago ---Thinking Female. Think it will turn out okay?

First - that is an interesting hybrid - yes on female - it'll be interesting seeing how she develops - I think it will be a stunner.

I'm keeping a log of development pictures ---I'll keep this thread updated. All other comments are welcome...I'm still learning "how to pick a fish" lol

I think it's too early to tell if it's male or female. I sold one to a friend that looked just like this turned into a giant male.
Also I don't think it's a hybrid. It looks like a young, washed out syn to me.

Unless it's like 6" already. Then I'd say female. But it doesn't look that big.

A development log is a great idea! I'll look forward to updates.

The only way to "pick a fish" is really to go with a fish you LIKE, not what somebody else likes.

Its roughly 4-5" in this picture, and stressed. I've looked at photos of confirmed males, and the fins match the female. I could be wrong though. I will take a picture tonight...He/She is completely purple/red going all the way to the dorsal fin, and the black is really starting to show up.

I think this syn maybe a female because of the head shape and eye color. It's hard to tell because its new and stresses. I thought mine was female until he hit 10".
