I find substrate plays a large part in color. on white sand mine looks allot like Oscared's Syn. on black substrate more blues and purples are coming out. Now he is on yellowish natural colored gravel and more greens are showing in the face.

Really nice syn! It's too early to sex unless you vent. I thought mine was a female for a very long time until he was about 12". The forehead began to slope and eyes are blue, so realized I had a male.
