  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have a pair , they are great fish . They breed often and the male is not hard on the girl , color is amazing . I like these guys , but not as interactive as a devil etc

1. Yes mine has a lot of personality.
2. 90g should be fine but 125g is always better.

I love mine. Very active fish and isn't overly aggressive. They like a lot of veggie based foods, but will eat anything. Mine mainly eats algae wafers and pellets.

Mine acts like a crackhead when I feed romaine lettuce.

I had a pair and they were amazing. The male when colored up was simply gorgeous. They were both around 10" and kept in a 90 gallon tank with no problem but eventually would have needed a bigger home. I miss them and would love to get another pair again at some point.

It depends on what you define by personality. If you expect to act like Red Devil that will always swim in the front and bang the glass in your present, then don't count on syn. When my syn was young, he was shy and skittish, and will jump up if I approached the tank too quickly. Now he is the largest fish in the tank, at 14 inch, less shy but still no where as bold as Red Devil. I also have a melanura, which seems to be bolder fish than syn. I share the opinion with Jeff Rapps that melanura and syn are two different species because of the substantial difference in color pattern, body shape (syns has taller body), and personality (syns is shyer).

If wet pet means that you can keep it singly in his own tank, I don't think syns is a good candidate. I don't know about melanura, as it has a different personality.

Thanks again everyone. Some excellent feedback and info. I think I'm going to hold off for now, but will definitely consider one in the future.
