So is that not a jag?? What is its proper scientific name? I tried using the search thing and it came up with nothing.
Ive seen them sold as jags heaps of times here. I dont think ive ever even seen a real jag now.

No it's not a Jag.Freddys are closer to Loisellei though not as solid.Males are quite nice reaching around 12".I have seen a couple above that in the past. Not as big as jags and less agressive though they can still do damage.

correct spelling(Parachromis friedrichsthalii)

Here is a pic without the flash. The yellow gets better with age.She has a lot more black markings being female.

Here's one from Mojo that's posted on Jeff Rapp's site. It's a little bigger. Jeff actually has some 2" to 3.5" ones for sale right now.

I have one that is roughly 5-6 inches and looks very much the same as that pic. Just not as dark yet (that would come with age to?) but has the same green on the fins. Does it also have sorta light blueish patches on its back?? Like really faint and not a sheen like then green but just a noticible blue/grey colour in patches??
Im dissapointed now. I just thought it was a young female jag that hadnt developed the blacks dots properly yet. Sorry to derail the thread abit but does anyone have a pic of a 5-6" jag i can see??
I wish i was in bris though ide def come take some of your babies of your hands. Its abit far for me to drive though.

What you have may still be a Jag.They get a blue ,purpleish sheen.Post a pic in the photo lounge and ask for peoples opinion.I also have a smaller jag.Unsexed at this time and it is very dull compared to the freddy.

I suck and have no digi camera unfortunately. Its looks identical to the oic of yours so im guessing thats what it is. Still a cool looking fish i was just hoping it would get bigger then 10".
