T. Pasionis update

I
If in doubt Steve I would unplug it.
Your fish should be fine at room temperature for quite a while. I hardly ever have my heater plugged in except during very cold spells.
Mind you my Mrs always has the heating on full blast.

Thanks Darren. In the winter my house never gets above 70f. Do you think these species would still do well if the temp drops below their current 75f? I guess they can go cooler right?
I am done with Aqueon heaters. This is the 4th one to break in a year. I only have had them, because they send free replacements if something goes wrong. Not worth losing my stock over.

It will drop gradually, and I doubt it will drop below 70.
The species you keep will encounter temps as low as that at certain times of year.
If it's only for a week or so I would not worry.
If you do cold water changes keep them small to avoid dropping the temp to much.
I've seen my tank at 70 lots of times and the fish still spawn.
If you had an Amazon tank it would be a different story.

How are the fish doing today Steve - the heater?
Has the temp dropped much?

They are doing well. The temp is down to 72. Thought I would see a greater drop, because the room is drafty because of the horrible windows my house came with. Luckily outside the temps have been down in the upper 30s and 50s during the day.
I am thinking I should move the pasionis to the larger tank soon. Also thinking the mixteco blue. The mixteco male and female in the 150g are fighting now, which the meeki keep breaking it up. Do you think I would have aggression issues by adding another male to the 150g?

You can never predict these things but I think you should be OK.i have 4 adult male helleri in my tank and aggressive behaviour is limited to breeding times.Even then it's minimal.
I think if you can add several fish at once you stand more chance.
It's always going to be trial and error but I think it's worth a shot.
At least you have the other tank if things get too much.

Yes, this is true. This female mixteco already killed one off. Maybe the pasionis group about the same size will keep them in check. Unfortunately I can't add more mixtecos, because of availability.
