we were given the wrong tag/chip number for one of the 24ks which they noticed at singapore customs so they put a letter on the boxes

when the UK customs saw this they scanned all of the aros to make sure they had the right tag numbers this had to be done by a guy from CITIES to it added 6hrs to the trip

all the other aros were fine and had the right paperwork so they let them into the UK

they have kept the 24k with the wrong paperwork and we need to apply for new import papers which can take another 3 weeks

lucky for me it wasnt my 24k who is now swimming happy in my tank


i hope all the other aros are ok as HP dropped mine off 1st THANKS HP

Where is customs keeping the other aro? Any chance it survives such ordeal?

Yes I waited for what seem like ages at the Animal Reception Centre near Terminal 4 for them to release the fish-Anyway as T1 explained the guys in Spore got the numbers mixed up and UK authorities would not allow the 24K with the wrong no, thru. In short they impounded it, its Ok they have fish and animal keeping facilities there, I will have to reapply retrospectively for another CITES permit to get that aro back. I was made to look like an animal smuggler- accompanied to a room and cautioned that I had tried to bring in a fish under one of CITES apendices without the correct permit. Man they are so strict- i don't blame them , laws are there to be followed. this was the most problematic import I have ever made, all my other ones went swimmingly.Anyway I walked out after the questioning with my head bowed like a naughty schoolboy and all I wanted was my 24K aro!! haha......thats coupe of hours waiting must be seems like waiting for hours!!!

I wasn't inform that there was an aro being tag wrongly during the 2nd inspection done at AVA. If not, we would have taken the fish out and hold it back in SGP.

Let's hope that the authority will expediate the processing of the documentation so that you do not have to wait for 3 weeks inorder to retrieve the aro.

In hindsight it would have been better to keep the fish with the diff tag no. back in Spore until next shipment, but hindsight is a wonderful thing as these days CITES authorities are eagle eyed and do not tolerate anything that does not go by the book, not that I blame them. Anyway you live and learn

This is something new that I have learnt from this batch of fishes because we have ever sent aros that were wrongly tagged to different parts of the world before. But all of them were allowed to be imported into the country with the letter from the AVA of SGP ........

The authorities in UK are really too strict......
