Table salt v Aquarium salt

Iodized salt is safe to use. For the added iodine to have any negative effect I suspect that the salinity would have already killed your fish.

I use water softener salt. I get a 40 pound bag at albertsons for 6 dollars. Just make sure to look at the ingredients because some of them have bonding agents in them. The generic cheap store brand ingredients read only sodium chloride. I've never had any problems with it and its a heck of a lot cheaper.

I do this too, except I get a 50 pound bag at Home Depot for about 5 bucks. I have seen it at WalMart too for about the same price.

I'll have to see if I can get a hold of some water softener salt . Would that be what you would put in a well? Never heard of water softener salt.

I was just browsing walmarts website and they have a 4lb plain brick of salt.

I don't know about putting it directly in a well, but I've had a well that had really hard water in the past. Usually you have a softening system that the salt goes in a big cylinder tank.

justonemoretank, wanna know something else that sucks about kosher salt other than just the cost? weigh one tsp of regular table salt then weigh one tsp of kosher salt. kosher salt weighs half as much. You have to use 2 times as much kosher salt is recipes if you want the same result. lol. sry random fact

You're right. In fact, when my mom came to stay with us for a while, we had to buy her a salt shaker and Iodized salt because she said she "couldn't taste the salt" in what we cooked. That has nothing to do with weight, most likely, but more to do with the size of the granules and how they feel in your fingers when you're adding it to food. We don't notice that there's not as much salt, but folks who use regular salt do. LOL another random fact.

lol. go weigh some! it truly does weight half as much.
wait why are we talking about salt?

LOL some endeavor to find the cure for cancer, others discuss salt. I do think, though, that we've probably said enough, even for the less-likely but still-present forum member who is actually interested. :)
