Table Salt

Touche!

Upon further research, this seems to be a bit more hotly debated than what I realized! I've always been under the impression that iodized salt was toxic and that it was not to be used in home aquaria. There are arguments for both sides, and it certainly seems that some fish are more sensitive to iodine than others. Rainbow trout, for example, can only tolerate 1ppm iodine solution! That's pretty low. However, it seems that others, such as yourself, have used iodized table salt with no detrimental affects.

I apologize for my short sighted comment!

For the longest I heard that iodized salt was a no go and it was something you just didn't question. Then I started reading and found that for SW it isn't too big of a deal and FW fish can cope. I decided that next time I needed to use salt I would just use table salt. Before that time came I redecided that non-iodized salt is really easy to get ahold of and iodine surely doesn't have any specific benefits so I would just stick to good ol NaCl.

Whether it is good or bad, I have no idea... but I'll just stick to plain salt for now (well, no salt under normal circumstances but you get the idea.)
