I'm Where I'm At
So I got the new Transformer Prime, I'm also a noob and I'm not a real power user. Mainly browsing, music, games and want to do movies and what not. Wanted to get a tablet since I'm dropping the data on my cellphones.

I've read some reviews on the prime and it's supposed to be real fast and gives the ipad2 a real run for their money. it has some issues with the gps but that doesn't affect me since i don't use it for that. it's the bad wifi that i'm having an issue with

it's really slow using the wifi at home. for example, I can't even watch youtube videos because it buffers forever, then plays a couple of seconds, then buffers again,..... I was wondering what it may be? I only have dsl in my area and I don't have the fastest internet speed. It's the second fastest option that I went with from my provider (verizon).

just wondering what some may be able to tell me
 
hmm only thing i can think of is that maybe you should see if there have been any software updates for your transformer prime. also check to see what band your wireless router is using, it could either be B or G or a mix of B and G, if it's B it's gona be slow.
 
it automatically updated on initial powerup so they had already fixed some things. i'll check into the band thing on the router. how do i find out if it's b or g? does it say on the router?
 
yeah log into the router's settings page, usually its 192.168.0.1 in the url of your browser, should be a setting for either to broadcast in B, G or mixed.

other than that i would suggest visitng development forums for your tablet, XDA is a great source of information, or even Slatedroid. just search google for the exact website.
 
i have verizon too and im just going off what i know from my router.
 
do you know what the b and g is exactly? how do they affect differently? and can it be changed to one or the other?

I just got the transformer prime 2weeks ago. It actually kicks the crap out of the ipad as far as speeds go and many other areas as well. As far as wifi maybe its your wifi cause my is super fast watching netflix movies and all. You can also check the settings of your browser where it has the plug ins. You can turn that on and off. That will be turning flash on and off and should make a huge differance. Also try downloading Opera browser. Thats another really fast one. They have the mini and normal.

so far, what i've read, a lot of people say the prime is better. but then there are a lot of apple lovers and haters going back and forth on the reviews so, hard to say. but the camera is better on the prime. from what i read, apple didn't step it up on the camera on the ipad2
