In front of my tanks
yesturday I went to a friends house he has a pool but did not get around to open it this year well there was thousands of tree frog tadpolesI live in ma. so i don't no what kind of tree frog they were but i took a few dozen home thinking a treat for my fish i gave them some and when i woke this morning my long nose gar and my hystrix stingray were dead does any body no if some tadpoles have toxins or anything that would of killed them

R.I.P long nose gar and stingray    :swear:

They could have been toad tadpoles, toads are toxic. Feeding your fish animals from the wild is NEVER a good idea, I think you just learned that the hard way.

oh no... sorry to hear that bro.. you learnt it the hard way man.. feeding wild animals to captive pets are risky. esp tadpoles/frogs/toads. coz u never know what exactly are they, and whether they are poisonous..

Well, sorry to hear that. R.I.P.

But been wondering after, hearing that natural wild that might contain toxin, how about those wild life Arowana?

i been feeding bullfrog tadpoles to my fish. Toads are poisonus and will kill the fish.

condolences....nvr feed anyting u dun noe much abt to ur precious fishes

I try to know what I am feeding and where it is from. Golf course ponds are bad news due to the chemicals they use, most toads and some newts have highly toxic young. Leopard frog, bullfrog, and reed frogs produce tadpoles that make great food if they are from clean water.

here in England my friend has a pod in her garden, which has small frogs in it. He says they are just common garden frogs and he could give me some to feed to my hoplias.

Being that feeder fish here are almost 3 dollars each, it would be a great way to feed my fish.

Should I risk it?
