HAS ANYONE EVER OR IS CURRENTLY USE TAHITIAN MOON SAND (BLACK SAND) IN THEIR TANK? I WAS THINKING OF SWITCHING FROM GRAVEL TO THIS TYPE OF SAND? DOES IT CHANGE WATER PARAMETERS? WILL MAKE WATER CLOUDY IF KICKED UP BY STINGRAYS? THANX FOR YOUR HELP!

I know people on here use it, I don't. I have black gravel because Big Al's ran out of black sand. Heard good things about it tho.

Yes I use it. If rinsed really well then it will not get cloudy but you will get a sandstorm when they kick up the bottom.

i have before with africans..its fairly good..but play ground sand is cheaper

I love it, have 100lbs in my 150G. Love the way it looks with the back and sides of tank painted black. They claim it is innert ph wise I have no reason to disbelieve it. Rinse it very well. It was about 20 deg outside, and I didnt feel like doing the bucket thing in the bath tub, so I attempted to rinse it in the tank. Thought I had done a nice job of it too. I change my filter pads weekly after 2 months as they become clogged with the fine dust still :(

I have it in my 75 gal with mostly plecs, and 6 geos. orangeheads and I love the look.

Rinsing is a key as stated above. I too thought I had it rinsed well enuff.
Only to find out I hadn't. But the film will pass in time.
