Wash it well that stuff is a PITA. I changed over to pool filter sand and now I don't even use the tank. It's empty waiting to be sold to make room for the bigger tank.

sorry things went out of plans changing fish tank right now,ilpost pictures when my bichir color up ok? abd how long does it take to color up?

depends, mine took 3 or 4 days

It may take days or weeks depend on how settled they are now in the new setup.
