had my silver for about 6 months now, healthy until he got tail drop syndrom, his tail fin just started falling out, how do I know if his tail will grow back perfectly? his tail is growing back, but it looks pretty uneven

what size of tank?
what water parameters?
what are you feeding?

i like clean water, that gets changed out frequently. lots of water....... and feed a variety. i have had horrible luck with my silver, but through water changes and a good turnover of water mixed with a varied diet, i hav ebeen able to keep it in good health and quality

tail rot or tail drop... or anything to do with fins.. is signs of dirty water...

but tail drop is usually caused by stress.... can u post some pics of your silver?

I always do 25% water changes per week, the thing was that I have had this guy for 6 months now, and the tail drop happened after I did a water change. I usually keep my water around 6.5-6.8 ph. my sink water is 7.6 or higher. I though my arowana could finally deal with high ph, but I guess the change in ph cause the stress, which cause the tail drop. I always keep my water clean

naw.. Arowana especially silver have very low water ph.. around 6.5-7.2.. nothing higher than that..

7.2 is actually REALLY high.. maybe u should add a driftwood to lower the ph a bit..

my tap water is about 7.0ph plus i have driftwood. so it makes the water go down to 6.5 at times..
