How big is the GATF? I know he's not 24". So most likely the armatus is the dominant fish in the tank and of course the smaller GATF is going to be scared. If the GATF gets mad enough he will make mince meat of that Armatus. The GATF will swim circles around the armatus, it all depends on who is the dominant one in the tank. Both fish are just amazing specimens either way. I have seen pictures of a big GATF rip a big Vittatus in pieces because it didnt' like it. I'll try to find them.

Yup, in open water I'm sure a GATF would tear up an Armatus.
When I had my big Armatus temporarily housed in a 125 with my Vitattus the Vitattus had his ass beat. He could not go to one side of the tank without getting jabbed at by the Armatus. The Vitattus looked like crap when I finally put them back in the 600. Now with a bit of room to maneuver the tables has turned. The Armatus still jabs at the Vitattus, however now with room to swim around the Vitattus seems more comfortable to fight back, which he does. I heard the aggression with a GATF does not start until about over the foot mark. Getting close :naughty:

wait wait....The tiger in this picture is not the goliath that we have here in the states like the one R1ridah, Jarret, Dom, and Tigerfang's.

In Japan and Taiwan they do call this "giant tiger" also, but it has a shorter face, and taller body. If someone can bring back the pictures of my tigerfish thread for comparison, you'll see the difference. This is the one that I'm suppose to be bringing in.

Btw, Li, can you ask the owner, I'm assuming Woody, if this is the same one he posted pictures of a year or so ago, that we thought was "brevis".

I'm surprised no one has said anything about this fish not being a goliath. Stripes are not the sole determination on a fish species, obviously. From sources there are actually 2 types of giants, even with that, vittatus get over 3 feet in captivity, which most people have not achieved.

Here are some for comparison

However from reliable sources, I've heard people have raised some near 5 feet in Japan

The top pic does not look like a Goliath to me. Looks like a Vittatus. The second looks like a beat up stunted Goliath, and the third is definitely Goliath.

The second picture is the one Neo posted that he just took in Taiwan. Isn't that the one you're referring to as GATF? The third picture, I know is a goliath, but its from a different thread that I posted a while ago.

Both Neo, you and a few others have reffered to this fish in the second picture as goliath, on a first glance. I almost think, its the same fish as the first picture, it is the same owner btw.

Oh, and the flat catfish on the bottom, is a bagarius suchus!
