From my experience using frozen is so much more efficient and cost effective, I did however have a lizard that would not touch frozen no matter what I did. But once a mouse moved it was game on. I have kept many different reps and this was 1 of the few cases were there was no alternative other than the lizard starving and thats not right either. Just the natural order I guess.

What type of lizard was it? Nearly all species of lizards can live off insects. You can feed them worms, crickets, roaches, and ect.

I know there are some species of snake that only eat live food (can't think of the species off hand). I really hope no one is trapping mice from the wild. Too many factors like pesticide that you would not want to transfer to your reptile. Most raise their own rats for food.

Snakes control rodent populations in the wild, but in captivity it's a bit different and cruel. Trapping a rodent in cage(no escape) to be eaten alive? At least in the wild they have a chance to escape. In captivity it is a death sentence, no way out. It is cruel.

I understand your point, however are you saying you feed live? You can't feed dead(frozen)?

I do know there are some reptiles that won't accept dead, but from what I heard it is pretty uncommon. Strange to me because most reptile owners pull that excuse. It disgusts me on how many people keep reptiles for 'live feeding' amusement.

Thats life man. Unless your a vegetarian, you have no say on how people feed their pets. Its the way of the world my friend

It doesn't amuse me and disgusts me as well. I feed 90% frozen. Some animals just wont take frozen... no different that cows, pigs, and chickens. Do you eat meat?

I am a vegetarian. The only meat I eat is fish. I am a vegetarian because of the cruelty but also how unhealthy meat is today.

Stores breed mice for the purpose of feeding. And putting mice in the freezer to die is ok? Their not born frozen. So go attack the people who sell em before you attack someone who prefers keeping their animals lives as natural as they can. Living things die for the purpose of others to survive. Like i said its the way of the world.

I've never owned snakes, but I was seriously considering it once. So I did a TON of research, and from what I found; most responsible reptile owners found that "live" feeding was an unnecessarily risky method. I found many stories of snakes being blinded/cut/infected by live "feeders".

Moral/Personal feelings for the food aside; I'd say you're better off feeding dead food. And just like getting fish to take pellets/fillets; there are many tricks you can try.

I understand that too, but it's more like "the way of the humans". Like I mentioned earlier, nature has a chance to survive and escape. Not get trapped with no way out.
