Having a camera that doesn't chew through batteries like a beaver on methamphetamine helps. I always end up hurrying because I never know when the stupid thing is gonna say,"Insufficient battery, shutting down". Grr.

My Canon A920 take AA batteries instead of the special packs, which is good. Are you using regualr alkalines or NiMH. My camera can go through regular alk energizers in less than 2hrs. I bough Rechargable Nickle Metal Hydride (NiMH) and it stays charged for weeks, depending on use. Initial cost is more ($20-30 w/charger) but pays off quickly. Just a suggestion if you haven't already done so.
