it'll be funny if I keep them together months without baby then once I play the song boom they got it on instantly and wow I got fry. lol

can't you just imagine that big male doing the fish equivalent of singing isaacs part...

that would be the history making moment, I better have my camera ready

saw this video at work yesterday and they've been staying at that spot for the longest time, so I thought maybe I got lucky and something beautiful had happened....when I got home and there's no eggs to be found..but the belly of the smaller rhom did get smaller...could it be those damn convicts??? I need to get them all out...have to make myself a convict trap...piss me off..:irked::banhim::banhim::banhim::banhim: :banher::banher::banher::banher:

do they look like they are guarding something???

The amount of activity in the first one is worrying a bit to me.. looks like thay were trying to get at eachother.. The size similarity makes it extremely hard to make them cohabitate at will rather then either divider in and divider out.. theydo look like they have calmed down a bit now and if they hang out in the corner you might have something going on.. i would make use of a clay flower put.. put it on the female side to give her some shelter..

If your feeling up to it. Take the male and put him on the female side. With CLOSE supervision and a couple of nets standing by just incase.. let them interact without a plastic mesh inbetween them.. Agression and courting look extremely similar.. you might expect torn fins.. but if they start to really go at it then its best to stop. and try again at a later time..

if i'm not mistaken their egg scatterers so a mop and some more floating plants might do the trick. Either way the convicts would snatch up the eggs.

thanks for the advis, they are much more calm nowI'll give them an other week or so and see how they do before I try to put them together. in the mean while I'll get more floating plants (like the ones I already have in there) and more java moss and lay them around the gravel.
One thing I have noticed is that the "male" has some scratches around his mouth/chin/nose area. could those caused by digging gravels? like I mentioned before, the gravels I had in there are hard to dig, maybe those caused some scratches. what media would be good nesting material? I think Java moss should be pretty good. or should I try some fine filter mesh media as well?
I'm in the process of trying to fish out all the convicts if possible, or at least as many as possible.
Cepon3, you think flower pot would help in the same way as cichlids? I did notice that your larger brandtii likes to stay in the pot, interesting.
