Alright you guys and your damn piranha tanks convinced me to get a shoal of piranhas. The last of my africans will be gone next Thursday, so I have a week to try and find a good source of some p's. I wanted to go with 20 gold's and 20 rbp but according to Pedro at aquascape they haven't seen golds in 2 years..... So, it doesn't look like I will be getting any golds :( Which sucks cause those are truly what I wanted to go with. I'm going to try and find a local source (shipping sucks) if I can for about 30-40 rbp to squeeze into my 500 :headbang2

Cant wait to see pics when you get it all together. Should be an awesome tank. :D

"squeeze into my 500" he says. LOL Yeah AS is back to their old prices for red belly. 12/$50 So $150 (probably$60-70 shipping) and you'll have a **** load of rbp. Otherwise, ask around your area for a breeder. A hobbyist/breeder will probably hook up out pretty awesome for that many rbp. AS also has cariba in stock if youre feeling baller. Get us pics whenever you get the fish in tank!

I will probably be leaning to AS for 36 rbp it is looking. I only knew of one local breeder that sold 3" rbp for 5/$25 but he only has 8 left from his latest batch :( All the local pet stores sell them for rediculous amounts anywhere from 10-20 each for babies....I really didn't want to pay for shipping as it ups the cost per fish drastically but I don't think I'm going to have much choice here.

I also need to figure out tank decor, it was LOADED with rocks and whatnot and TBH now that I took everything out of the tank so that I could catch the fish out for buyers (literally had to get in the tank to net them out!) I kinda like it being empty, looks MUCH larger. So I will probably just put some driftwod in the center of the tank with plants spaced in there as well to give the p's a "racetrack" around the entire perimeter of the tank. It'll also give water a nice path as I'll probably add a couple wavemakers to kick up the flow in the tank for them.

500g tank full of p's would be bad ass, can't wait for pix and feeding videos.

Yay you listened to me, told you that 500 would be perfect for a shoal of 50! That's 20gal per fish plus an insane footprint, is consider getting that on a drip!

Cheers man, glad your getting in the game

Drip system was already in place for the africans, gotta love no water changes - manual ones that is :) I'll probably up it a tad for these guys though as I'm sure it's gonna get messy with so many predators.
