Taking the plunge...again :)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
All the fish still eat, but it appears to be spreading to the bodies of some of the other fish now as well. Water is fine I checked that, no ammonia, nitrite and roughly 30ppm nitrate. Sucks to have to treat a tank this large...from everything I can read and compaare it to it does appear to be bacterial in nature so going to go buy some melafix and see if that helps. Just finished doing a 75% water change anyway which was quite fun :/

Picked up Formalin MS which appears to be working well. I can already see a decline in the one's lip as well as some of the others whose bodies were pretty well covered with w/e it is are fading and starting to look much better. They have never stopped eating through this which makes me happy, hell even the smallest one took a hit on his back from what looks like probably the largest fish due to the bite size and he never got any form of any disease attacking the open wound and his back is already healing over, it's crazy how tough these fish truly are.

Well after $350 in different meds, massive water changes I finally lost the battle with Flexibacter columnaris(mouth rot). I have never in my 25 years of fish keeping had a fish with this disease since it's mainly a low water quality/high organic load issue. So I am pretty pissed that I believe the fish just came in with it already since it developed about 1.5 weeks after I got the fish it showed itself on the largest of the p's not to mention the fact that they went into a 500 gallon with clean new water......I have never ordered from aquascape before and they deffinately had amazing service I just hope this was one of those bad luck deals as I've never really heard anyone complain about the quality of their fish but to say the least I am not a happy camper :/ Even through the battle with the disease the fish all still ate very well and grew fast the largest was just over 5 inches long when i netted his body out :( Take care all you piranha keepers may your beautiful piranha's live long happy lives but this ends my journey back into piranhas.

Sorry for your loss bro. I don't think it was a bad luck case lots of complaints and bad feedback from them. Another Guy just made a thread about spending $500 on orders there and each fish was sick / poor quality. Seems they aren't so good. But nonetheless sorry again.

My fish life is sparked up with Polys :)

I read through this whole thread before coming to this. reading this was pretty upsetting. sorry about your loss man.
