Talk about bad timing! Gachua breeding question...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Grr! This is getting rediculous for my buddy! Last Friday he came home and the same thing. Male is hiding, the skin between his lower jaw bone is buldged out. Great, theyve spawned again. That day he caught the dat and moved him to another tank. Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday night the male was like that. Hiding, buldged chin and not eating. This morning, NOTHING! The fish was really hungry and ate like a mad man at feeding time!

What is going on?!?!?!

sometimes they do swallow there first few batches of fry , mostly down to inexperiance or being spooked ect. if nothing is giving any hassle i would suspect the first .

useally by the 3rd attempt most have it mastered , some will take 4 goes , some are just bad parents. some take first time , i would not give up hope yet and suspect next time you will be lucky .

my aurantis have had 3 unsucsessfull goes now , same sort of deal .

cheers col

My buddy called again and said the male appears to be holding just five days after he last "swallowed." I will keep this thread running to see how this behavior continues.

My old pair of gachs would do the same thing. Even if you cover it now with the blanket, cut a hole in it for the tank lid to feed then thats it. That will do the trick!
