Yer all tandans are venomous. Just don’t play with the spines a you’ll be fine. Not as bad as bullrout but pretty painful.

Those are some lovely catfish!
I've been seeing some plotosids sold in the US every now and then; my LFS even has a T. tandanus in.
They're not particularly aggressive, are they?
I've always been rather fond of Australian fishes, and threads on such seldom-discussed fish is certainly a welcome sight.

Now being I NSW man I am obviously keeping Koi (illegal in QLD) so now growing up a Tandanus in my Koi pond, he's happing feeding on floating pellets so I get to see him each day

How big will my Tandanus Ater grow, bastard keeps digging up plants looking for snails I assume. Internet says 70cm in the wild ish but there’s not much online

He is a Neosilurus ater
Probably up to 60cm wild
Just pinching internet info but says growth in aquariums is very slow

Sorry you’re right Neosilurus Ater, it’s not that slow he’s growing faster that the fire eels
