Tanganyika suggestions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I suppose there are some non- tang options. I do like buffalo heads but have never kept them. I was hoping lelupi would hide in the rocks if chased but I guess sooner or later a 15" front will catch them off guard. I guess I am mainly looking for some brighter colors. Maybe a C. moorii they might get large enough. I like the comp/calvus idea. Thanks.

Oh and I did get the 180 over the weekend. WOOT WOOT. It is sitting where I want it but.... I have to shore up the floor and buy all kinds of stuff for it. But I got the tank (oak), stand (oak), and two strip lights for it for $400. It's in great shape too. It looks fantastic. The guy took my number and said he'd call me when he unpacked the Eheim pro 2. They haven't finished unpacking. It would be a nice bonus but I am not counting on it.

I have four burundi frontosa, with 3 black calvus and 2 j. reganni, T Moori's can have great colors, I had a few of them in the same tank, but decided that I want a tank full of them, or none at all.

Ok that's two affirmations of T. moorii getting along with frontosa. I am looking into them. Planning can sometimes be tough because I want them to be able to be together for life. Any Tang algae control suggestions?

In all my years keeping fronts, I usually keep them species only(if your interested in breeding in the future). But I have a couple show tanks based manly around the fronts, and I've kept successfully lelupi, cyps, calvus, comps, and many nice plecos. Now cyps are there natural food in the wild but if you raise them together you will have a good survival rate, you might loose one every now and then when the fronts get some size but rarely. You can have success with many fish as it mostly depends on the fish them selfs cause not every fish will have the same temper. But thats what I've had success with. Oh and you could take your chances with clown loaches, but they do have barbs which come out when aggravated and you could risk loosing your nice $$$ front on a $10 dollar fish. Hope I helped :)

get some tropheus duboisi "maswas", some tropheus ikola kaisers, tropheus linangus, tropheus bemba, cyathopharynx furcifer, tiger nasutas, some cyprichromis leptosoma, benthochromis tricoti.

Leleupi are fine with frontosas. I have them in my 180 corner tank, and the fronts are huge. Just no live feeding. Another thing, since you will have such a large tank, throw a huge mass of shells in there, two or three piles spread throughout the aquarium, and get some SHELL DWELLERS!!!! Their behavior is completely amazing, especially when you've given them enough water to compete. They will actually steal shells and females from another male's harem! The female doesn't know because she was hiding in the shell during the swipe! These fish have amazing behavior!!!! and lots of species to choose from.

dont buy the tropheus until you have algae growing on the surface of your rock, as they are vegetarians, and rock-graisers. Having that as a staple, they wont get intestine problems when put in the high protein food for the Frontosas
