Tanganyika tank

one problem is that tangs grow slooooowly. i've had some of mine for almost a year and the are barely pushing 1.5 inches. they would be fish food.

my tropheus moorii (firecrackers) i got them at like 1/2 inch and theyve grown about an half inch since when i got them almost 2 months ago. Which of your tropheus are growing slow?

most tangs grow slow, not all. I think trophs are one of the few that do grow at a normal rate. MY brevis fry were older and bigger than my salouis fry when I got them. The salouis have out grown them by an inch already. (in 2 months). I think that comps and calvus grow the slowest.

Also, everyone that I talked to who has puffers and cichlids, suggested not to mix the two. It would be bad after he reaches 5-6 inches.... I know its said that your question has actually been part of my daily conversations.

when i first read this thread i thought u meant u wanted put a tang tank around the puffers tank! that would work better maybe making it look like the tangs are in the same tank this would be th betr idea thn putting expensive fish in with him!

that does sound like a cool idea...

I have a Nangu Frontosa in with the Mbu right now. I'm picking up a couple more, they're only around 5 inches, and that'll be the full bioload for the tank. I've decided that I'd like a full Frontosa tank though so I'll be moving them and likely putting something smaller in with the puffer. He's been sulking about the tankmate anyway. The Frontosa always wants to be near him and he seems confused by the idea.
